The third Starman book has 51,509 words, which makes it longer than the
first book but shorter than the second. The format of the third book will
look much like the second book: it will be a professionally bound, hardback
book with a full-color wrap dustjacket. Since the book is about a dark
planet in deep space, we have chosen jet-black cover material for this book.Unlike The Runaway Asteroid, this book is illustrated! Mike Dodd, the science consultant and idea person for the Starman Team, drew both the cover art and the internal illustrations.
Each of the Starman books is numbered by hand, and this title will be no exception. If you would like to keep the same number you had before, let us know and we will try to do that for you.
One problem we have experienced since printing the second book is dramatically rising costs. The cost of postage has gone up 10%, the cost of making dustjackets has risen 50%, and the cost of having books printed has risen 21%. We have checked with other printers and other copy shops, and we discovered that the firms we were using are indeed the cheapest and the best in the marketplace, so we are stuck with the price increases. The upshot of all this is that it will cost us more than $500 extra to print this book than it did to print the previous book, even though this book is a little shorter. Starman # 3 will be $23.50 PostPaid*.
