- The Planets and Kids series is about kids and outer space. In creating this series I have tried very hard to depict a simple but realistic look at the future and I have attempted to keep the writing fairly simple without writing down to children. Unfortunately, space and society, like childhood, are often dangerous. In trying to depict the many aspects of a society that has reached into space it was impossible to avoid occasionally mentioning the dangers of such a society.
On the other side of this, however, the series strives to reinforce the idea that, though we must constantly struggle against the universe and the flaws in our own nature, we can better our situation through intelligence, careful thought, and hard work. It is my hope that this series will help its readers asks hard questions of themselves and of others for it is only by constant challenge that we continue to grow.
In closing I would just like to provide two sayings that have stayed with me for many years:
Truth, Liberty, Justice - the American Way... the Way It Ought to Be!
