|.. Video update .. |

Over 8 hours of videos, movies, TV shows, coming attractions of classic SF movies, newsreels of the 1950s space race, robots, flying saucers and SF Movie serials will be part of the two evening video sets at the festival.

Space Patrol shows will include local KECA 15 minute shows sponsored by Dr Ross Dog Food and early ABC sustained network shows. In the course of the two video sessions, cadets will see the transformation of the Space Patrol uniform from the "Robin Hood" look to the "modern" Space Patrol uniform. The evolution of Commander Corry's Terra V will be in flight with the final classic Terra V displayed in a video from 1955. A brief history of the Terra V spaceship has been compiled by Cadet Jack McKirgan in the "Jane's Spacecraft Vol. MLII" report. A complete study of the Terra V can be found as Appendix 4 in Jean-Noel Bassior's SPACE PATROL book.

Tom Corbett shows will include a 15 minute episode from the Marsian Revolt series from 1951. The plot line appears in the 1952 Tom Corbett newspaper strip, TC Sunday strip, and is part of the TC history of the "3" Space Academy's . Another popular plot line from both the newspaper strip and the radio show is prison breaks from the Asteroid Prison. Cadets become part of a prison break from the Prison Asteroid in an early TV show.

Additional videos will include a sampling of 1950s SF shows of Tales of Tomorrow, Science Fiction Theater, and Captain Midnight (don’t forget to bring your Ovaltine). Additional shows and movies will be available for "Cadets Choice" and as always, cadets are urged to bring a favorite show to share. A video list will be included in memberships packages and will be posted outside of the video rooms.

The video events will also feature door prizes of DVDs and related Space Opera items of interest for cadets. This year we will have a little contest to receive extra tickets for the door prizes. Here's how to increase your chances in the drawing for the door prizes:

UPDATE:
The following shows will be part of the video screenings on Thursday and Friday night. In addition to the listed shows, new Tom Corbett shows may be part of the video lineup. I hope to review some new offerings from the dealer's room on Wednesday afternoon, wish me Spaceman's Luck.
